Bill was my external moderator on the Computer Related Design course at the RCA. The following conversation took place right after I presented my projects to him at my final exam:
Bill: Thanks Dennis, so what’s your plan?
Me: Funny you should ask…actually I’m going to work for you…
Bill: Really? This is embarrassing. Honestly, the company (IDEO) has grown so large that I don’t even know who work there anymore…
Bill was a big part of IDEO but at the same time he was never part of it. I guess keeping a healthy distance from the company allowed him to look at our work more objectively.
