Bill travelled from Palo Alto to be with us at our Anniversary Punting Party in Oxford – it’s the kind of thing he did…! July 1987

I shall be forever in Bills debt for giving me my first break – straight from college to the top room at Dartmouth Park Road with Alastair, John, Dick and Ingelise. Hedda and I were the new girls and it was exciting and inspiring to work with Bill. The most gentle, kind and talented person I have ever worked with and his philosophy taught me that the most important things in life are people.

He was an absolute star and his light shines brightly still – though its hard to imagine that his big bear-like presence is no longer with us.

Love you Bill. Thank you.

Thank you for your incredible openness, kind heart, and wise advice, Bill. You inspired me, as you have with so many! I will never forget the words of wisdom you shared with me in the hill top outside your house. Your humble, energetic and caring leadership moved mountains. For all of those whom you’ve touched, we’ll make sure that lives on.

When I first met Bill, he caught me by surprise. I was still meeting so many new faces at IDEO when a tall, gentle giant introduced himself. I remember thinking, “YOU’RE Bill Moggridge!?!” But my starry eyes quickly normalized while Bill talked to me as if he’d known me for years. And I’ll never forget looking at photo-booth photos from one of our holiday parties. Bill’s really stood out to me — not because he and his wife were obviously having a *great* time, but because he always showed such genuine joy in life. What a gift. Thank you Bill.

For me, Bill was a great personal friend and teacher. What he gave us was not only knowledge, but the vision and the responsibility of an intellectual. His spirit and energy can continue to inspire us.

The very early days – Moggridge Associates London 1977 – so many happy, rich memories. I am so lucky.

I feel very fortunate to have journeyed a little way with Bill and found him abundant with generosity and humanity. I will remember his kindness, wisdom, mastery of design and passion for scrabble.
